Alexandra Carilli is the owner, yoga instructor, head juice bar chef, buyer and consultant at Instant Karma. She began her relationship with the subject of yoga as a child watching her father's practice. In early adulthood she began formal study in the art of asana and the philosophy of Vedanta & Gita. The subject of yoga has magnetized Alex for over 28 years. She acknowledges it as the guide of her intentions and teaching as her way to give back.
At Instant Karma yoga is practiced in the tradition of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar and his family of Pune, India. Iyengar Yoga is unique in that the whole of yoga is explained and experienced through the metaphor of asana or postures. When needed, props are used to make the poses more available, intelligent and conscious. To the neophyte yoga practice is physical. If it is sincerly studied it can reshape, develop and mature an individuals world view. Yoga can can profoundly change us emotionally, mentally and intellectually. Yoga helps ground us on earth as we reach for heaven. Inspired by the masterful teaching of the Iyengar family Alex's aim is to introduce the profound subject of yoga holistically by teaching it as an art, science, philosophy, meditation and culture.
There is no experience required to take yoga class. Beginners are always welcome. For locals and visitors alike, drop-in students accepted.
