In class Alex shares her love and understanding of the practices, lifestyle, philosophy, history and goals of traditional yoga. With over 3 decades of practice and long term studies in the US and India Alex can offer insights from her direct experiences. The yogic path is highly individual. As we get familiar with the subject we learn much about ourselves.
The techniques of asana and pranayama she shares have been shaped by the masterful teachings of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar and his family of teachers. Other influences come from years of involvement with Ayurveda, Vedanta & Indian philosophy, Zen Buddhism and a love of chanting.
With time and attention practice can be an effective way to prevent/mitigate all kinds of suffering: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. There is a way into practice for everyone and
all
are welcome!
This practice is slower paced and uses more support. Perfect for a person 50+, someone just starting or someone who has a health concern or limitation. All ages are welcome.
This practice is ideal for persons who would like a class while on the road. Perfect for someone stiff from traveling who would like to move.
This practice is an introduction to basic yoga asanas presented in a sequential order for optimal learning. There is a weekly syllabus where families of asanas, their shapes and names in Sanskrit & English are learned. Ideally this class should be considered as a pre-requisite for Saturdays ongoing yoga practice.
Adjust to Cloudcroft's high altitude by elevating your diet and daily routine. Alex offers Ayurvedic counseling to individuals interested in the art & science of self healing. Ayurveda (which translates to the knowledge of life) is a traditional system of medicine that comes from ancient India. Ayurveda's basic precepts emphasize right ahar & vihar: diet and lifestyle. Like Iyengar yoga, Ayurveda looks at each person as an individual. When a client comes for Ayurvedic counseling they will receive personal recommendations given in baby steps that aim to reinforce healthy behavior patterns. Healthy behaviors create healthy habits, healthy outlook, healthy relationships and a healthy life. Ayurvedic counseling is a collaboration between counselor and client designed to support a persons wellness by slowly changing patterns. All of Ayurveda is designed to restore "doshic" balance which is equilibrium within ones unique constitutional make up.

Hi there. I'm Alex a Gen-Xer originally from upstate New York. I'm the owner, yoga teacher, Ayurvedic health counselor, Club Veg coordinator, buyer and head dog walker at Instant Karma.
For over 30 years I've been studying Indian wisdom traditions like yoga, Ayurveda, Buddhism, Vedanta, Sanskrit, japa and meditation. I'm a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, certified yoga therapist, a graduate of the Ayurvedic Institute, an ordained Zen Buddhist priest and fellow traveller on the path. I really enjoy studying and learning. What I most appreciate from actual experience though is that truth isn't always logical but better sensed from within. Introducing people to the art/science of self healing through the wisdom traditions of the East is what I do. I offer public yoga practices and give Ayurvedic talks at Instant Karma. I also offer private yoga lessons and individual Ayurvedic health counseling by appointment.
Instant Karma runs because of my good friend KK- a retiree from Dallas. She keeps us all on the same page via personalized text message, her administrative excellence and a whole lot of love- If you join yoga or get veggies you'll know what I mean.
